History
Smiths Transport is a Family owned & operated business which started over 90 years ago, carting milk cans and other supplies to the local dairy company. How things have changed - The first truck a Ford Model A was converted to carry 34 ewes in one load and all long distance cartage was by railways - Government law- and the cartage was then from the railway sidings to the farm. Tonnes of fertiliser and other supplies were offloaded from the railway wagons by hand then carted to the local farmers where it was once again offloaded by hand. Life was tough in those days!
